How can we generate more jobs FOR Himachalis IN Himachal?
It is extremely difficult to get accurate, up-to-date data about employed and un-employed Himachalis. Answers to MLA questions in Vidhan Sabha and Himachal Pradesh Department of Labour are two main sources.
Here is a summary (Mar 2019)
Government is the largest employer (4,400 establishments, 2.75 lakh employees).
Private sector (having more than 10 employees) employs 1.78 lakh employees in 1,813 organizations.
As on 31-Dec-2017, 8.35 lakh Himachalis were registered in Employment Exchanges.
We are doing more detailed research on "employment" and "un-employment" numbers, and on what needs to be done to generate employment opportunities for Himachalis.
